Silver Valiant 2019
This is a brand new 10oz silver coin from The Royal Mint. This huge coin is produced to a fine silver purity of 999.9 and therefore contains a whopping 311 grams of silver. The coin has been refreshed after making its debut last year with the 2018 Valiant. Like all the Royal Mint silver coins, the 2019 Valiant has its own face value – in this case, £10. The advantage of the face value is its consequence of qualifying the coin as Capital Gains Tax free. Coins will come individually in plastic capsules with orders of 15 coming in boxes.
Valiant design
The theme of this silver bullion coin is to celebrate the courage, pride and honour of St George slaying the dragon. The legend os Saint George has long been associated with England, not only being its patron saint but also featuring on the reverse of the UK’s flagship Sovereign gold coin for over 200 years. St George and the dragon has been reimagined by esteemed designer Etienne Milner for this coin. The design features on the coin’s reverse, with George astride a horse, slaying the imposing dragon with his lance. The image overlaps an inner circle with mottled background, with a broad surround that encompasses the words ’10oz Fine Silver 999.9′. The year of production is confirmed at the bottom.
The obverse of the coin also features a dimpled (or guilloche) textured background, with Queen Elizabeth’s fifth portrait sat atop.
Our Expert Opinion
This coin will prove popular to both the silver collector’s world and those seeking silver investment. Its huge size not only feels satisfyingly heavy to hold but enables relatively low production cost per gram and a huge canvas for a stunningly detailed design. The historical theme and Royal Mint heritage will prove enticing to the global market, while the Capital Gains Tax-free element will appeal to investors.
