2022 Britannia & 2022 Sovereign Gold Coin Combination

This is a bundle of the Royal Mint’s two latest flagship gold bullion coin issues. The collection consists of 1 x brand new 2022 1oz Britannia gold coin, struck in 999.9 fineness 24 carat gold, and 1 x brand new 2022 Sovereign coin, struck in 22 carat gold. This bundle offers you a cheaper way to buy the two top selling investment coins.

2022 Gold Britannia

As with all UK currency coins, the Gold Britannia is CGT exempt and VAT free in the UK and European Union.

The familiar fifth portrait by Jody Clark of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of this coin. With the monarch’s age, this portrait (first issued in 2015) will likely be the last portrait of the Queen. The featured crown is the King George IV State Diadem, generally worn to mark the annual state opening of parliament. The front of the 2022 Britannia boasts an attractive dimpling effect around the portrait.

Britannia reverse

The reverse of this coin contains the popular design of Britannia by Philip Nathan, surrounded by the radial design first featured on the 2017 Gold Britannia. The Britannia motif is generally updated every few years which keeps the design fresh and enhances the collectability of the coins.

In this design, Britannia is shown standing in front of the sun, standing tall against a gale with her shield, Corinthian helmet and olive branch.

Around the design of Britannia is the legend ‘BRITANNIA 2022 999.9 FINE GOLD’

2022 Gold Sovereign

The 2022 edition contains 7.988 grams of 22 carat gold.

The obverse of this coin features the familiar fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

This was designed by world-renowned artist Jody Clark. In this design, the Queen is featured in the King George IV Diadem and Diamond Jubilee drop pearl earrings.

Reverse – Royal Coat of Arms

For the first time since the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee back in 2012, the reverse of the 2022 Sovereign features an alternative design to George slaying the Dragon.

The Royal Coat of Arms adorns the reverse, in celebration of the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. This in itself, should make the coin more collectable than usual.

The central shield design is split into quarters, representing the symbols of Ireland, Scotland and England. Wales was already integral to England before the Act of Union.

The crest is of a ‘statant guardant’ lion (where all 4 paws are grounded, with the lion facing the viewer) wearing the St Edward’s Crown. On the right hand side of the crown (‘dexter’ in Latin) stands the Lion of England and on the left (‘sinister’ in Latin) is a chained Unicorn of Scotland. The unicorn is chained as myth states that a free Unicorn was a dangerous beast.

On the right hand side of the shield stands a chained Unicorn of Scotland and on the left stands the Lion of England. The unicorn is chained as myth states that a free Unicorn was a dangerous beast.
