2016 Canada 3/4 oz Silver Howling Wolves
These silver bullion coins are produced to the unusual size of 3/4 ounce of fine silver. This offers investors and collectors a more diminutive option to the far more common 1oz silver coins. These 2016 issue coins from the Royal Canadian Mint, come individually in plastic sachets, in coin tubes of 30, or boxes of 600 (20 x tubes).
Each coin has a face value of 2 Canadian Dollars, is produced to 999.9 purity and weighs 23.327 grams. This is the second in the Canadian Mint’s grey wolf series of coins, celebrating the impressive animals’ rise from near extinction.
Coin features
The Royal Canadian Mint’s fantastic production values and reputation are demonstrated in some of the Howling Wolves security features. A micro-engraved maple leaf features with the numeral “16” in the middle and a reeded edge, accompanied by difficult to copy radial lines on both the obverse and coin reverse.
Coin design
The obverse of the coin features the familiar portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by designer Susanna blunt, as used on all of the Canadian Mint’s current coins. The $CAD 2 face value is confirmed below.
The rear of the silver coin depicts two wolves looking up at the moon and howling as the main image sat within the radial outer circle. Wording confirms the year of issuance, metal, weight and purity.
