2023 King Charles III Coronation Britannia Gold Coin

This special limited issue 1 ounce silver Coronation Britannia coin commemorates the historic 2023 coronation of King Charles III. Mintage is limited to only 200,000 coins worldwide.

It holds the unique position of being the third iteration of the 2023 Silver Britannia, after the QEII 2023 Britannia  and KCIII 2023 Britannia standard versions.

The obverse displays an updated special-edition portrait of King Charles III wearing his coronation crown, depicted by British sculptor Martin Jennings. This special edition crowned portrait sits on the familiar dappled background featured on the standard Britannia coins.

This is a brand new 2023 Coronation Britannia bullion coin. Struck in 999 fineness 24 carat silver, this Royal Mint coin features a host of ultra-high security elements.

The 2023 UK King Charles III Coronation Britannia features the same exciting and stunning hi-tech features first seen on the 2021 version, designed to take the coin’s anti-forgery status to the next level. Exact design and images will follow as released by Royal Mint.

The four features created with Royal Mint’s cutting-edge lasers are;

  1. Animated Waves A micro detailed wave background to the Britannia image on the back of the coin. Now Britannia really does rule the waves, as the background waves seem to move when the coin is angled
  2. Hologram effect Another first-time feature is a small circular image on the coin’s reverse. At first glance, the image is of the familiar naval trident, but when the coin is pivoted, the trident evolves into a padlock. Clearly, the Mint want to be direct by boasting of the coin’s new security features!
  3. Micro Text An additional inner ring sits within the coins main reverse text. This ultra-fine detail includes the words ‘DECUS ET TUTAMEN‘, which means ‘An ornament and a safeguard’
  4. Shield detailing More laser work is displayed on Britannia’s shield, which now boasts additional line detailing, depicting pattern and colour.

This all adds up to not only the most secure silver coin in history but also the most visually impressive and stunning coin on the market.
